We all have strengths and weaknesses but what separates Super Heroes from the average Joe is based on two factors: 1. What each person decides to celebrate and capitalise on. 2. What and who they are focusing on. Superman is seriously weakened by kryptonite but you don’t see him hanging around the substance. In fact, he abstains and flees from it. The average Joe, allows his weaknesses to define and rule his life. You also don’t find Spiderman wanting to be Superman or envying Superman’s powers. Why want something you are not born with, when you can celebrate what you were born with. When envy sets in, you become a villain not a hero. In the world of super heroes, their world is shared with the villains, the average person, their family and friends. They are also faced with a number of life changing issues such as wanting to fit in, being the average joe, facing an identify crisis and most of all finding purpose in life. During these early stages in their life, they discover their true potentials and celebrate them through trials and challenges. This is when we start to admire them and think of the amazing opportunities that await them. In fact, we tend to wonder what we would do with such super powers. We forget they ever had weaknesses and see them as unique and powerful beings because they have something we don’t and would love to have. When the time comes for them to be responsible for their powers and find purpose in the greater good of humanity, they automatically become our hero and we want to succeed no matter what. Now, let us step into their own little world. Before they discovered their true potential and found purpose, they were miserable because they were different, singled out and rejected by the society. They were picked upon because they focused too much on their weaknesses. Does this sound similar to your life or the lives of people you know?
