Timothy Walters

When you are one of the most honored journalists of your generation, have created one of the most unique talk shows in television history and interviewed world leaders, superstars and athletes, what's the next step? For Barbara Walters, the next step has taken her to SIRIUS Satellite Radio, where she is hosting her fist ever live, call-in show, "Barbara Live." The show is co-hosted by Bill Geddie, the executive producer of "The View" the ABC talk show Walters created 11 years ago.

This is the first time the public has had personal access to Walters. Callers will be able to question the journalist on topics ranging from politics to pop culture. The show, which debuted on September 17, has already generated an interesting array of topics from Brittany Spears' legal troubles to the changes at "The View." Walters is an icon in journalism. She has interviewed every president since Richard Nixon. In 1976, she became the first woman to anchor the evening news on a major network when she sat beside Harry Reasoner on the ABC Evening News. She also scored the highest ratings for any single network interview in March of 1999, when she interviewed Monica Lewinsky, former President Bill Clinton's alleged former lover. A record 74 million viewers heard Walters ask Lewinsky, "What will you tell your children about this matter?"

Lewinsky replied, "'I guess Mommy made some mistakes,'" at which point Walters said, "And that is the understatement of the century". Never one to shy down from the news makers of her generation, Walters has been equally excited to talk to callers on her new program.

"I especially love taking phone calls from listeners," Walters said. "This is a whole new experience for me and very exciting."

Securing a talent like Walters is also a coup for SIRIUS Satellite Radio, which was launched in July 2002 to give listeners an alternative to commercial radio stations. This is the second show featuring Walters on SIRIUS Stars Channel 102. "Barbara Walter's Best of the Very Best" airs at 6 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. EST. The show is collection of interviews Walters has conducted in the past 30 years including chats with Tom Hanks, Hillary Clinton and Muhammad Ali.

"'Barbara Live' deepens Barbara's involvement at SIRIUS," said Scott Greenstein, President, Entertainment and Sports at SIRIUS. "We are delighted our subscribers can now interact with one of America's broadcasting icons on a weekly basis."

"Barbara Live" airs each Monday form 6 to 7 p.m. EST on SIRIUS Stars channel 102.
