Every so often, you’ll see an actor make an incredible physique transformation. One day they’re skinny and frail and all of sudden they look huge and ripped. Each transformation seems more impressive than the next. So today, I’m going to compile a list of the top five Hollywood physique transformations.I’ll also include an honorable mention or two and my reasoning behind the rankings. Remember, this list is just my personal opinion. If you think I missed an incredible Hollywood physique transformation, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments section. Ok, here are my… Top Five Hollywood Male Physique Transformations (Plus Honorable Mention) Important Note: This article includes dramatic before and after pictures. I sat down and racked my brain to come up with what I thought were the top five most impressive Hollywood physique transformations. Only problem is… I came up with six. So somebody had to fall out of the top five and into the honorable mention category. Honorable Mention: Toby Maguire, Spiderman Quite a few fans were upset when Toby Maguire was named the lead for the Spiderman franchise. Sure, Peter Parker was supposed to be a scientist… but many fans thought Sony crossed the "geek" link when Toby landed the spot. But he shocked critics and added quite a few more female admirers to his fan base when he added muscle and transformed his physique to something that closer resembles a body built by crime fighting. Good job Toby. Now, let’s dive into the top five… Number Five: Brad Pitt, Fight Club AND Troy Now, granted, Brad Pitt has never been fat. It’s not like he had to shed hundreds of pounds to get the role of Tyler Durden in Fight Club. But he got so ridiculously ripped and caused such a buzz that I had to include him in the top five. It appears he even added some muscle (while staying just as ripped) for his role in Troy. Number Four: Will Smith, Ali Remember the tall, skinny Fresh Prince Of Bel Aire? Yes, Will Smith with the long skinny arms and the big ears. Except… Will Smith didn’t look so skinny when Ali landed in theaters. Adding that kind of bulk is what landed Will Smith’s physical transformation for his role in Ali at our number four spot. Number Three: Ryan Reynolds, The Amityville Horror Ryan Reynolds certainly didn’t cast the image of a "buff dude" when he starred in Two Guys, A Girl & A Pizza Place. Which is probably why it was so shocking when this version of Ryan Reynolds showed up on the silver screen. Number Two: Ed Norton, American History X This is by far one of the most dramatic Hollywood physical transformation I had ever seen. And many people would probably have Ed Norton’s American History X transformation in the number one spot. And for good reason. Edward Norton, typically known as a skinny, awkward guy… absolutely shocked and terrified audiences when appeared on screen to play a Nazi skin-head with 30 extra pounds of muscle. Which leads us to the number one spot… Number One Most Impressive Hollywood Male Physique Transformation: Christian Bale, Batman Begins When it comes to dramatic physique transformations, I have to give the top spot to Christian Bale. Take a look at what he’s done for the following roles and see if you agree. For the movie American Psycho, Christian Bale got incredibly ripped. While most guys would love to look like that, Christian Bale did the unthinkable: He lost 60 pounds for his role in The Machinist. But Mr. Bale still wasn’t done. He then gained over 100 pounds to play the beefed up role of Batman in the movie, Batman Begins. In my book, Christian Bale has accomplished the most incredible Hollywood Physique transformations and therefore has rightfully earned the number one spot.
